Making Precision Technology Accessible Enabling India’s Next Generation of Manufacturing
Abhijith Bhat Narya, Founder & Managing Director, and Rashmi L. Gururajarao, Co-Founder & Director, Manleo Designs Pvt. Ltd., on innovation, Industry 4.0 and building a stronger manufacturing ecosystem.
1. India aspires to become a global manufacturing hub. What are the biggest opportunities and challenges for the Indian machine tool industry in achieving global competitiveness, and what changes are still required?
India’s opportunity lies in its scale, talent and ambition. The challenge, however, is consistency. Global competitiveness demands precision, reliability and speed across the manufacturing value chain.
At Manleo, we believe bridging this gap requires accessible innovation. Affordable, high-technology solutions can empower SMEs, which form the backbone of Indian manufacturing, to meet global benchmarks without creating prohibitive investment barriers.
Policy support for manufacturing is strong, but industry must complement this momentum with a quality-first approach. Consistent processes, reliable technology and a focus on productivity will be critical if India is to move from being a manufacturing destination to becoming a globally respected manufacturing powerhouse.

2. Innovation today extends beyond products. How is your organisation driving innovation across manufacturing processes, customer experience, sustainability, workforce development or digital transformation?
Innovation is not confined to products; it is about rethinking processes, customer experience and sustainability.
At Manleo, our USP lies in delivering precision at scale. Our portfolio focuses on productivity-enhancing solutions that reduce downtime, improve accuracy and deliver measurable value while remaining cost-effective.
We innovate by listening closely to shop-floor realities and translating those challenges into practical, affordable technologies. For us, innovation must solve a real manufacturing problem and deliver a tangible improvement in productivity, quality or efficiency.
This approach also supports sustainability by helping manufacturers improve resource utilization, reduce rework and minimize unnecessary downtime. We believe technology creates the greatest impact when it is both advanced and accessible.
3. Manufacturing success increasingly depends on collaboration across OEMs, suppliers, technology providers, academia and startups. How do you see partnerships shaping the future of manufacturing, and what role does your organisation play in this ecosystem?
No single player can build the factory of the future alone. Partnerships across OEMs, suppliers, academia, technology providers and startups will increasingly define manufacturing success.
Manleo plays the role of an enabler, bringing precision-driven and affordable solutions that can integrate seamlessly into larger manufacturing ecosystems. Collaboration allows us to amplify our impact and ensure that even smaller manufacturers can participate in the Industry 4.0 journey without being left behind.
We have consistently emphasized that the future of probing in India depends on collective action. It is time for Indian probing companies to come together under a common platform or association. Such collaboration can accelerate technology adoption, encourage the sharing of best practices and help build the ecosystem that manufacturers genuinely need.
A stronger industry ecosystem will ultimately benefit technology providers and end-users alike.
4. Looking ahead to 2030, what will define a successful machine tool company? Which capabilities, technologies or leadership qualities will differentiate the industry’s future leaders?
A successful machine tool company in 2030 will be defined by three qualities:
- Agility in adapting to technological shifts.
- Affordability in delivering innovation at scale.
- Trust in consistently delivering precision and productivity.
Technology will continue to evolve rapidly, but successful companies will be those that can convert these technological advances into practical value for customers.
Leadership will be about balancing vision with pragmatism—knowing when to push boundaries and when to simplify. Companies must understand that innovation does not always mean complexity; sometimes, the greatest innovation is making advanced technology easier and more affordable to adopt.
At Manleo, we see ourselves as precision partners, not simply product providers. Our focus is on helping customers achieve better manufacturing outcomes through technology that delivers measurable value.

5. As one of the Machine Tool Influencers 2026, what message would you like to share with the next generation of manufacturing professionals and entrepreneurs who will shape India’s industrial future?
To the next generation of manufacturing professionals, my message is simple: don’t chase technology for its glamour—chase it for its impact.
Precision, productivity and affordability are not contradictory; they are complementary. The future belongs to those who can make advanced manufacturing accessible, rather than exclusive.
Young professionals and entrepreneurs should remain curious, understand real shop-floor challenges and focus on developing solutions that create measurable value. Technology should not be adopted simply because it is new; it should be adopted because it solves a problem and improves the way manufacturing is done.
At Manleo, our mission is to demonstrate that high technology can be both cutting-edge and cost-effective. We invite the next generation to carry that vision forward and help build an Indian manufacturing ecosystem that is innovative, inclusive and globally competitive.
