Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre strengthens its imaging capability with ‘MAGNETOM Vida’, the first MRI with BioMatrix Technology in Delhi and NCR region

Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre are one of the premier cancer centers in Asia founded in the year 1996. The institute offers cutting-edge technology and renowned specialists for patients from India and neighboring countries. It specializes in tertiary care services in Medical, Surgical, and Radiation Oncology, streamlined into dedicated site-specific teams. The hospital has reached a landmark of 25 years since its inception and is all set to begin yearlong silver jubilee celebrations in July 2021. This coincides with the acquisition of a most advanced 3Tesla MRI and a high-end Cath Lab optimized for Interventional Oncology.

The institute hosts Interventional Oncology as a dedicated service line which is widely acclaimed as the fourth pillar in cancer care. RGCIRC is one of the first hospitals in India to bring robotic surgery for cancer patients, pioneer ablative therapies with RFA and MWA, install true beam for precision radiotherapy, and set up a molecular laboratory. RGCIRC recently installed the first BioMatrix 3T MR System from Siemens Healthineers named MAGNETOM Vida. This is the first BioMatrix System installed in Delhi and NCR region and is most suited for cancer imaging.

Patients are unique and have individual characteristics. The individual characteristics and anatomies may cause unwarranted variations in imaging results. The most recent and unique BioMatrix Technology helps to overcome these challenges by automatically adjusting to patient biovariability.

We are confident that the recent Installation of MAGNETOM Vida will certainly set a new benchmark in oncology imaging and this would help us deliver individualized & personalized care to all our patients with the help of BioMatrix technology. We had some challenges with scanning patients with limited breath-hold capability. New revolutionary free breathings abdomen examination has brought in a new paradigm shift in abdomen screening with high-resolution dynamic abdominal imaging under free-breathing with one continuous, push-button exam. New and Unique 64 channel Head Neck coil can now help us in improving our clinical results and speed by multifold”, said Dr. Arvind K Chaturvedi, Chair Radiology and Interventional Oncology at RGCIRC.

“MAGNETOM Vida effectively combines a unique Biomatrix technology which adapts automatically to bio-variability that enables personalized examinations and helps expand precision medicine. Coupled with an AI-based Dot engine it provides precise automated planning. New advanced platform and turbo packages help in performing scans up to 50% faster compared to any conventional scanners,” said Subodh Divgi, Head of MRI business at Siemens Healthineers, India.
